Battens | Back to Top |
Battens are commonly used throughout much of the world to hang and fasten clay and concrete tiles to the roof deck. MonierLifetile offers high-performance battens and batten extenders to provide positive anchoring for each tile, while enhancing water flow off the roof for a longer lasting and better performing roof system. MonierLifetile's Elevated Batten System and Tru-Flow Battens are also energy efficient products providing ventilation to keep the roof cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Flashing | Back to Top |
To ensure the long-term integrity of a roof system, it is critical to prevent water, snow and debris from entering the system. Critical areas, such as intersections of different sloped roof decks at hips & valleys as well as junctions or penetrations such as walls, chimneys, skylights, vents and plumbing pipes, must be properly flashed to keep the system water tight. While many different materials are available, MonierLifetile has designed and developed several types of high-integrity flashing options to choose from for optimal performance and protection. Consult your regional product literature for available products in your region.

Hip & Ridge | Back to Top |
The hips and ridges are critical intersections of all roofs that require careful weather blocking, but can also be used for ventilating a breathable roof system to last longer and perform better. MonierLifetile has designed the best hip and ridge products available to prevent wind-driven rain, snow and other debris from entering the peaks and corners of a roof. Some of these specialized products also provide ventilation to allow the roof system and attic space to breathe for improved energy efficiency and a longer life span for the entire roof system. Consult your regional product literature for available products in your region.

Oxides | Back to Top |
Oxides are natural pigments used to color the mortar at the hips and the ridges of the roof. The oxides that MonierLifetile provides are specific to the tile colors offered and are the same pigment used in the manufacture of the tiles. Consult your regional product literature for available products in your region.

Snow Retention | Back to Top |
In cold, snowy climates proper snow retention is the difference between a long lasting tile roof and a disaster waiting to happen. Without proper snow retention, there are many risks involved with a snow load on your roof. The first risk is to people below the eave. If a large, heavy, ice-hardened snow load begins to slide off the roof, it could severely injure someone below. Another risk is to the roof: as snow slides down the roof, its heavy mass can break tiles, vent pipes, eave components and anything else that may be in its way, resulting in costly repairs. The third risk is to the roof structure. When left unchecked and allowed to accumulate at the eave line, enough weight can damage the roof structure perhaps even breaking the eave of the roof off, creating significant and costly damage to repair. MonierLifetile offers Snow Brackets that are easy to install and are the reliable way to keep that snow on your roof. Consult your regional product literature for available products in your region.

Underlayments | Back to Top |
While tile is ultimately the first line of defense against the elements on a roof installation, underlayments play a critical role by providing a secondary level of waterproofing protection directly on top of the wood roof deck. As a crucial barrier that contributes to the performance and longevity of the entire roof system, it is important to choose the right underlayment for your roof and your particular climate. Consult your regional product literature for available products in your region.

Valleys | Back to Top |
Shedding water off the roof is absolutely crucial at valleys, where two roof slopes are directing all the water they collect to the same point. A poorly designed valley can quickly lead to significant damage. MonierLifetile developed the Ribbed Valley Metal and provides nothing less to insure a free-flowing valley that will protect the structural integrity of the roof valley. W-valley metals, designed for wood shakes and asphalt shingles do not prevent clogs and direct water into the roof system, which can damage the underlayment and cause the roof deck and underlying structure to rot. Consult your regional product literature for available products in your region.

Vents | Back to Top |
An estimated 75% of homes have deficient attic ventilation, where soaring temperatures can drive up energy costs and diminish the lifespan of roofing underlayments. Alleviate many of these concerns with MonierLifetile's vents. These products ensure proper ventilation and help reduce energy costs, with aesthetics that are superior to other vents. MonierLifetile vents provide the necessary benefits for longevity and performance. Consult your regional product literature for available products in your region.
